Shonen Jump’s Obsessive Mnga, Naruto, Continues To Dish Out The Goods
by Jwan JordanJanuary 23rd, 2008 - Before I begin my Naruto obsessed obligations, let me tell you why you should be in love with it also. Naruto Uzamki is the name of our young loud mouth protagonist, who unfortunately, had a terrible nine tailed fox demon sealed within him as an infant. Shunned by his entire village, Naruto lashed out as any typical child would, by constantly causing mischief in his quiet village. It wasn’t long before a very young Naruto decided to gain the respect of his peers by joining the ninja academy with undeniable aspirations of becoming Head Hokagae, or village champion. The journey and personal growth that Naruto eventually experiencing something that quickly transcends any mere travel to become a ninja, but an epic tale of the lives of the many people that Naruto meets and indirectly changes for the better.
The most recent issue to hit store shelves is Naruto #27. For those of you who may have missed a beat, heaven forbid, allow me to recap the latest events. Despite the rough start Naruto, and friends, Sakura and Sasuke make it to the rank of ninja. During the Chunin Exams, they are attacked by Orochimaru, who disappears only after placing a cuse mark on morally challenged Sasuke. Halfway through the third exam Orochimaru and his followers launch a no holds barred attack on Konohan. After an epic battle Orochimaru’s plan is thwarted by the selfless sacrifice of the Third Hokage. After a deadly battle with Orochimaru, a reluctant Lady Tsunade becomes the fifth Hokage.
Lured by the power of Orochimaru, Sasuke chooses to take his offer in hopes that he may soon have the power to kill his very own brother. In an attempt to save Saskue Shikamaru and his team endure a nearly fatal battle, as Naruto confronts Sasuke and fails at bringing him back, forcing Naruto to break his nindo (promise) to Sakura. Now here we stand at the most current events in Naruto’s world.
Volume 27 of Naruto possesses several major plot points that we have all been wanting to discover, including the chronicles of Kakashi himself, which delves deeper into the past of Kakashi as a youth and we see why that “take the bell test,” he gave Naruto and friends, was so very important to him personally. Aside from learning about the melancholy Kakashi, Naruto, while recovering from the failed rescue mission finally gets a visit from a very special person with an offer very pivotal to the series. Are we finally getting mere pages away from the even more popular Shippendu series!? Let us hope so. Meanwhile Shikamaru, due to the recent near fatal rescue mission, Shikmaru consults the new Hokage, Tsunade, about possibly recruiting a medical ninja on their team. Hopefully you can guess who eventually comes knocking at the door looking for a teacher in the medical arts. Things are really unfolding here people and the rabbit hole just keeps getting deeper in the world of Naruto. The final scene of this volume dpecits something more threatening than anything, a silhouette of several well known and ominous figures who apparently are serving under Orochimaru. One thing is for certain, the power hungry; Sasuke is going to be in for surprise when he sees how close he is to a life long goal of his.
